Watermead Country Park is in Leicestershire. We left the River Soar and moored up next to the park on the Grand Union Canal. The River Soar flows through the park, made up of woodland and nature reserves from 340 acres of gravel workings. The statues depict the final scene from Shakespeare’s “King Lear”. For the more experienced boater this is well worth the trip from Shardlow to Birstall.
