This is Derwent Mouth lock on the Trent & Mersey canal, the last lock before the River Trent. Emptied of water and undergoing repair work to stone and brickwork, it is interesting to see how short the front gates are compared to the back ones (photo above), the huge cill and the inlet sluice - picture 7.
